Although chances of getting a
real life convertible based on the LF-C2 concept, Lexus still teases us
with a new set of photos, putting the bold drop top right in the
Mediterranean sun.
We're not sure if these new images are digitally created but we can say the car really looks outlandish in such a scene. Part of this effect could be generated by the concept's special gold shade, created using a multi-layer process, with the first layer being the primer, followed by silver, a clear coat, a reflective yellow and another top coat. Just like they did with the special red shade on the RC.
This special shading along with the two-plus-two convertible's intricate shapes helps create different characters depending on lighting conditions and the angle the car is looked at.
Does it work? If the photos here are real, then yes. You can clearly see how strange it looks outside.
There's still hope
Although dealerships armed with torches and forks determined Lexus to give up on the idea of a new convertible in favor of a new 7-seater SUV, there are rumors a drop-top model based on the LF-C2 could become real.
A person familiar with Lexus' planing said in December last year that brand is still pondering a production model based on the LF-C2, which should come in as an RC or RC F convertible.
That's because the IS C also needs a replacement and the aforementioned coupes were already engineered to work as convertibles sometime in the near futures.
