The images, which come from Instagram user Johan9ff (via worldcarfans), appear to have been taken in the parking lot of the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, but, for now, the location remains as secret as the actual specs of this trackday junkie. The man explained the vehicle he shot had a PDK gearbox - since Porsche says a manual would slow many GT3 drivers down, we all expect the GT3 RS to remain PDK-only.
The front splitter appears to gift the car with a ground clearance that seems just as low as it did when the prototypes were spied out in the wild back in December 2014, so we expect the GT3’s nose lift system to be present.
The miniature ducktail spoiler at the base of the massive rear wing is here to stay, while the wider tracks, requiring beefier fenders, appear to have also brought slightly different side mirrors.
The front fender air vents, which evacuate air buildup in the front wheel wells complete the new aero package.
The Boxer engine details
Expect the 991-generation 911 GT3 RS to follow the path introduced by the 997.2 GT3 RS, which saw the 3.8-liter flat six at its back reaching four liters for the GT3 RS 4.0 swansong.
With the current car, the 475 hp 3.8-liter flat six on the GT3 is expected to pack 515 hp. Just as important, the pair of GT3s may remain the only naturally-aspirated models in the 911 line-up, as the upcoming mid-cycle facelift is expected to bring a turbo revolution.
While the 3.3 kg/hp GT3 is already breathing down the 3kg/hp Turbo S’ neck, the extra omph, as well as the obvious diet of the GT3 RS will make this one hell of a track special.
Since we’re talking lap times, we’ll remind you the GT3 already leaves the Turbo S behind on the Nurburgring, while the RS moniker is expected to bring the 911 down to 7:15. Here’s one question that we’d like to receive an answer to at the Geneva Motor Show 2015, when the new GT3 RS will land. Until then, we'll asume this one kills bugs extra-fast...
