Sin R1 RS Is the Name of a Mad Supercar Coming from Bulgaria

Sin R1 RS Is the Name of a Mad Supercar Coming from Bulgaria - VideoWe had no idea that there was something brewing in Bulgaria, something that would give the world a mad supercar that has the potential of giving cars like Ferraris and Lamborghinis a run for their money.
We're talking about the Sin R1 RS, an upgraded version of the original Sin R1 that was unveiled at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Oh, you didn't hear about the R1 in the first place? Fear not, it's not a big deal.
Sin Cars is a German manufacturer that used to have its headquarters in Munich. Somehow, they decided to move to Bulgaria in the meantime and are now working on bringing out the so-called R1 RS, which is expected to make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
The car is built around a tubular space frame chassis and is made with as much carbon fiber as possible so that the weight is kept in check at around 2,535 lbs (1,150 kg). That's an incredibly small figure that comes with plenty of power.
To be more precise, you can choose between three different engines. The least powerful one is a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 good for 430 HP followed by a 7-liter LS7 V8 making 530 HP and a supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 good for 650 HP.
We don't need to tell you which one we'd get, right? Instead, we'll mention that the transmission to the rear wheels will be done through a sequential gearbox or a manual six-speed, depending on your preference.
Accelerating from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) would take around 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h) is more than possible. Until we get to see it, this looks like quite an enticing ride.

49,000-Mile 1974 Mercedes-Benz 450SL Is Waiting for Your Bid

49,000-Mile 1974 Mercedes-Benz 450SL Is Waiting for Your Bid - Photo GalleryThe Mercedes-Benz 450SL is without doubt a stunning piece of machinery, but this sleek Merc produced until 1980 had its flaws.
However, Bring a Trailer is hosting an auction - which is now live and will last for six days - where a stock 1974 Mercedes-Benz 450SL is in the limelight.
So let's find out the car's story first and foremost. According to the auction website, we're looking at a "long-time Southern California car that was sold new in South Pasadena and delivered on October 8, 1974."
The car's odometer reads 49,000 miles (78,857 km) but we're mesmerized by how super clean and untouched the interior looks. The one selling this beauty claims every feature of the car is fully functional, including the factory Behr air conditioning system.
Also, the cabin comes fitted with original upholstery, carpets, dash, and wood veneers.
On the outside, a layer of Byzanz Gold (option code 422) is covering the cabriolet's old but charming body kit that looks in good shape from where we're standing, except a couple of minor dents.
Under the hood lies a 4.5-liter V8 connected to a three-speed automatic transmission while the owner informs us the "limited slip differential, suspension, steering, and brakes are in excellent condition."
This does not apply for the 1974MY, but Mercedes 450SL's built in 1975 and 1976 were known for vapor lock and hard restart because of the under-hood position of the catalytic converter. The issue was fixed once the 1977MY became available, as engineers moved the catalytic converter where the resonator was initially placed, just behind the transmission in the exhaust system.

Original Renault 5 Turbo Fetches $72,000 On eBay

A 60 year-old man managed to sell his mid-engine hot-hatch.
There were many great hot-hatches built over the years, but only one model can be deemed the most exceptional. Mind you, I’m only referring to the stock, unmodified ones. In a vast sea of magnificent, frisky, front-wheel-drive, lightweight European small cars, the Renault 5 Turbo sure did stand out of the crowd.
Its mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive layout was something exotic and unheard of in its particular segment and the fact that it was built as a homologation special for rally racing made it even cooler and unique. Even Peugeot thought so and spawned the T16 205 soon after.
Sure, a Clio V6 followed in the early 2000s, but the original thing remains sacred in the eyes of enthusiasts and connoisseurs.
The 5 Turbo pictured was recently sold for 72 grand on ebay. It might sound a little steep, but only 3,576 examples were produced, none of which was officially imported to the U.S. Furthermore, the car was in an original state and with only 101,700 Mm (63,000 Miles) on the clock.
Sure, it wasn’t perfect and it had a few scratches here and there, but that’s actually called patina; character.
Renault aficionados might point out the car wasn’t sporting its original wheels. Granted, those are custom-built Minilite rims, but the original TRX stock alloys were included in the car’s price. The fact of the matter is that TRX metric tires are very hard to come by and expensive, so its previous owner decided to change the whole wheel ensemble.
The car originally came with Cibie yellow lights, but they were replaced with normal lenses. But worry not, the original headlights were included together with the purchase.
Oh, and its turbocharged 1.4-litre inline-4 actually developed 185 horses, which makes the Renault a Turbo 2 model (it also says so on the sides). That doesn’t sound like much, but that amount of power on a 970 kg (2,138 lb) car, in the early 80s, was adequate, to say the least.
So, what do you guys think? Was this purchase worth $72,000?

50th Anniversary Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe Costs $349,995... Without A Drivetrain

Shelby American has unveiled the hard-top brother of last year’s 50th Anniversary FIA Cobra 427, the gorgeous 50th Anniversary Cobra Daytona Coupe.
Built in a limited run of 50 units, with either aluminum or fiberglass bodies, the Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe celebrates the 50th anniversary of Shelby’s FIA World Championship.
Only six original Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes were built in the 1960s, making it one of the most coveted vehicles in the world. Since each of the six racecars is worth millions of dollars, ownership of one is almost impossible.
But the next best thing to that is Shelby’s recreation, the Daytona Cobra Coupe, which marks the first time Shelby has offered an aluminum continuation Daytona Coupe. Built from original blueprints and measurements, the aluminum Coupes (serial numbers CSX9950–CSX9999) stay faithful to the 1960s, featuring leaf spring suspension, a tube chassis and a wooden rimmed steering wheel, among other things.
Each car will come equipped with a premium black leather interior, special badging, modern disc brakes and a stronger frame. Built to order, each vehicle is delivered as a rolling chassis and can be finished by a customer or an authorized dealer. An aluminum block 289 cubic-inch (4.7-liter) V8 that can include a Coupe’s serial number is also available separately from the Shelby Engine Company.
Now, if you’re a sensitive person, don’t read on. The base aluminum Shelby Daytona Coupe costs $349,995, and that doesn’t include the drivetrain! The fiberglass continuation cars start at $179,995, always without a drivetrain. If you can afford one, you should know that Shelby American is accepting deposits on a first-come, first-served basis.
The fiberglass and aluminum cars will be unveiled at Gordon McCall’s Motorworks Revival on August 12 and will be on display throughout the weekend at the Rolex Motorsports Reunion inside Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca.
An aluminum car will also be displayed at the Goodwood Revival in the UK to celebrate the anniversary of the FIA World Championship where the original Daytona Coupes will be reunited.
