Rewind back to the 1960s. As far as American vehicles are concerned, that was an era when muscle cars like the HEMI-powered Dodge Charger were duking it out from traffic light to traffic light in smoky straight-line duels. Compared to today’s EcoBoost-ed 2015 Ford Mustang and electronics such as the line lock burnout feature, those were the days to properly enjoy American automobiles.

Don’t get me wrong here. I’m all up for every technological advancement that furthered the automotive industry in the U. S. of A., but some cars from that day and age were and still are extremely radical and very enticing to look at. The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat may have added a pair of doors and a 707 HP S/C HEMI, but its aero-car predecessor still has the upper hand on the visual front.

And look what we just stumbled upon looking through the Mecum Kissimmee 2015 auction catalogue - the lowest-mile original engine 4-speed Hemi Daytona known to exist. Yup, this ride is as rare as the proverbial hen’s teeth. Believe it or not, the odometer shows just 6,435 miles (10,356 km), all of them original and documented with two manufacturer broadcast sheets (attached in the PDF below) to boot.

Previously a part of the renowned Otis Chandler Collection...

... and the former property of Kevin Greene, the 1996 and 1998 NFL Linebacker of the Year Award winner, this copper exterior with tan interior Dodge Charger Daytona is powered by a 426 cu.in. (7-liter) HEMI V8 that sends 425 horsepower to the rear wheels via a four-speed stick shift.

Amazingly, of the 503 Daytonas built, only 70 were HEMI-powered, and only 20 combined that with a manual box, making this 1969 example of the breed extremely special.

With Mecum estimates suggesting this baby will go around the block for at least $800,000, maybe even a cool million, the legendary aero warrior muscle car was professionally restored with proper factory markings on the undercarriage and it’s currently a part of the Wellborn Collection.

So how about it, does this Mopar high point deserve its estimate or not?
