Debuts next week
The first pictures of the 2016 Lincoln MKX have leaked to the web, ahead of its debut at the North American International Auto Show.Previewed by the MKX concept, the production model has a stylish front fascia with a split-wing grille that is flanked by LED headlights. The crossover also has plastic body cladding, a panoramic glass roof and muscular rear fenders. Other notable highlights include wraparound taillights, a dual exhaust system and a Lincoln emblem that moves to reveal a sensor when needed.
The cabin is a major leap forward as it features higher quality materials and a modern design. Details are limited but we see premium leather upholstery, wood trim and metallic accents. The crossover also has a stylish instrument cluster, a 'floating' center console and an improved infotainment system. There will also be a new Revel audio system that promises to provide "uncompromising acoustics and intuitive technologies."
Since the MKX is based on the Ford Edge, it will likely be powered by a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that develops more than 300 bhp (224 kW). Front wheel-drive will be standard but all-wheel drive will be optional.
