2015 BMW X6 M

BMW has released a fresh photo gallery of the X6 M Sports Activity Coupe, which goes on sale this spring in the US and Europe alongside the related X5 M.

The new photos were taken on the Circuit of the America in Austin, Texas, as well as in other locations in the Lone Star State. As you probably know by now, the BMW X6 M is powered by a tweaked version of the previous model’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 575PS (567hp) between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm and 750Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.

That’s 20PS (20hp) and 53 lb-ft (72Nm) more than the previous generation model, while CO2 emissions have been cut by over 20 percent. The impressive power and torque values make the X6 M and X5 M the most powerful all-wheel drive BMWs ever.

The V8 engine is mated to a new 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels through BMW’s xDrive system that employs an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. This allows for a fully variable distribution of drive between front and rear axles, though it normally operates with a rear-biased torque split.

The BMW X6 M sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds (0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds) and reaches an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h (155mph). Combined fuel economy is 11.1 l/100 km, equivalent to 21.1 mpg US (EPA estimates are pending) and 25.4 mpg UK, with CO2 emissions of 258 g/km.

In the United States, the 2015 X6 M starts from $103,050, including a $950 destination and handling charge. In the UK, the X6 M is priced at £93,070.
