The Ferrari 458 Speciale is one of the most capable supercars on sale today, a car that offers control and speed in an accessible manner whilst providing a sensory overload, now it’s time to meet the Speciale A!
The Speciale A is the successor the hardcore 16M, the fabric roofed brother of the epic Scuderia. Of course, the Speciale A adopts the folding aluminium hardtop that features on the 458 Spider. Unlike the Speciale the A, which stands for Aperta, will be limited to just 499 Ferrari collectors and is the most powerful Spider in Prancing Horse history. Its aluminium retractable hard top, which takes only 14 seconds to deploy or retract, helps reduce the weight difference with the Speciale coupé to just 50 kg.
The 458 Speciale A features the most powerful naturally-aspirated road-going V8 engine ever built by the Italian marque and will be publicly displayed for the first time at this years Paris Motor Show. The engine, which might be the last naturally-aspirated engine that Ferrari ever builds, produces a colossal 597 bhp and 540 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm.
All this power means the Speciale A sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds, the same as the Speciale Coupe, and has a Fiorano lap time of 1 minute 23 seconds, again identical to the Coupe. The Speciale A is the most aerodynamically efficient topless Ferrari ever made and it sure looks fantastic with the two beautifully crafted buttresses behind the occupants heads.
Like the Coupe, the cockpit has a distinctive racing-inspired look with no carpets and plenty of carbon, much of which has been finished in blue in this particular car. The wheels are slightly different from the Speciale wheels and look delicate yet purposeful finished in matte grey.
We are sure that all 499, the same number of LaFerrari’s being produced, will quickly be sold out. Be sure to stay tuned for the latest updates and images of the Speciale A!
