Ariel Atom 3S revealed
A new variant of the potent Ariel Atom has been revealed in the form of the Ariel Atom 3S. Ariel describes its new model as the most powerful version of the Atom after the Atom V8, and claims that the model comes with features ‘never before seen on the Ariel Atom 3 platform’.
Under the hood of the new track toy runs a 2.4-litre turbocharged Honda-sourced petrol engine that churns out 365PS of power and 420Nm of torque. In the extremely lightweight Atom frame, which weighs around 500-600kg, the Atom 3S can sprint from 0-100kmph in around 2.8 seconds, and it can run the quarter mile in just 10.7 seconds.
Helping to propel the little beast is a racing-type Sadev six-speed sequential transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters, sending energy into a rear-wheel drive setup. Other track-ready highlights include four-piston brakes at all corners, a digital dash, an adjustable traction control system for optimum diversity, and an adjustable suspension setup which enables drivers to perfect the handling for each track or road.
The producer says all Atom 3S models will feature a full glass windscreen to allow for a clear view ahead while seated in a race inspired composite seat, while a full LCD display will allow for easy viewing of data such as speed, rpm, gear position, as well as water temperature and fuel level.
The new Ariel Atom 3S is priced at Rs 55.2 lakh, while the standard Atom 3 is rated at Rs 39.7 lakh in the international market.
