Galpin and Ford Reveal a 725-Horsepower Mustang for SEMA
This black-and-gold Stang certainly looks the part of a special-edition rig, as GAS coated the wheels, side sills, brake calipers and badges in a gold color that is as close to the color of 24-carat gold as the company could get. Close examination of the black basecoat shows that this dark hue actually has gold flecks in it to match the gold accents. Also included is a redesigned front fascia to mimic the three strakes found in the headlights, and new headlights with sequential front turn signals. Additionally, the tuning arm added in some carbon-fiber aero goodies, including a front splitter and rocker panels. Around back is a custom diffuser.
Don’t start thinking that this is an all-show, no-go show car. This beast has a Whipple supercharger sitting atop its 5.0-liter V-8. This blower plays its part in increasing the Mustang’s output to an incredible 725 horsepower. Additionally, the supercharger is powder-coated in gold to match the car, and there is a window on the hood that puts the engine in plain sight. The Mustang also received a suspension tune from Steeda and a Magnaflow exhaust system.
Inside this Mustang, you’ll find Recaro seats coated in black-and-gold cloth and a black microsuede headliner.
Unfortunately, this appears to be a one-off car that GAS will not sell in any bulk. However, after the SEMA show, Galpin may decide to sell the car at auction. We’ll learn more about this car when it debuts at SEMA on November 4, 2014.
