2015 model range will add fuel-saving diesel/electric variants and a lower-priced entry-level model
Land Rover has announced the 2015 model year Range Rover Sport will begin reaching local dealerships in December, bringing to the local market diesel/electric hybrid variants and a new entry-level model.

Available in two grades, the hybrid Range Rover Sport will be priced from $146,900 for the HSE level, rising to $165,300 for the Autobiography model. Officially an SDV6 powerplant hooked up to a parallel hybrid drivetrain with a 35kW electric motor, the diesel V6 in the hybrid models develops 215kW and drives to a ZF eight-speed automatic, with the 175Nm electric motor located in between. Land Rover claims that the diesel V6 and the electric motor together produce 250kW and 700Nm. Fuel consumption in combined-cycle testing is 6.4L/100km and the hybrid will tow up to 3000kg.

Underpinning the range at entry level is the Range Rover Sport TDV6 (no 'SE'), which knocks nearly $10,000 off the price of the entry level, at $92,600. As the name suggests, the TDV6 is powered by the 3.0-litre diesel V6, tuned for 190kW and 600Nm. Standard equipment includes a hard disk for the satellite navigation system, voice control, hard disk for the 250W/eight-speaker audio system, reversing camera, hitch-assist function, 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels and power-adjustable front seats (six-way for driver, four-way for passenger).

As the previous base-grade Rangie Sport, the TDV6 SE – along with other SE variants – has been upgraded with additional equipment as standard. This includes 14-way electrically-adjustable seats, front parking sensors, electrochromatic exterior mirrors, auto-on/off xenon headlights, high beam assist and washers. According to the importer, these now-standard extras are worth $6860.

HSE and HSE Dynamic variants rise in value to the tune of $6470, with 18-way electrically-adjustable seats with memory position, a 12.3-inch TFT 'virtual instrument panel', auto headlights with high beam assist, electrochromatic exterior mirrors, premium 'volumetric' alarm, configurable mood lighting and premium floors mats for front and rear.

Lastly, the 2015 models will be offered with a new 'Stealth Pack' option in HSE Dynamic and autobiography trim levels. Featuring a satin-black finish for grille, grille surround, fog light bezels, bonnet vents, quarter panel vents, mirror shells and tailgate garnish, the stealth pack also comes with a non-reflective finish for headlight and tail light covers. Alloy wheels – in black finish with gloss black wheel nuts – complement the other Stealth Pack details and come in a choice of 21-inch diameter with nine-spoke design, or 22-inch five-spoke design.
