If there's one car that's only offered in Japan we wish to buy, it's the Subaru Levorg, a very nice-looking wagon with interesting tech. That is if you're a fan of the brand. Today, the carmaking business of Fuji Heavy Industries announced a new special edition model that caught out attention.

It's called the Subaru Levorg 1.6GT EyeSight S-style and is basically like Subaru putting its best foot forward – the EyeSight safety system and the 1.6-liter boxer engine.

Priced at 2,894,400 yen, the model offers standard standard 18-inch aluminum wheels painted in silver, LED low beam and halogen high beam headlights, 8-way adjustable power seats, fog lights and of course the EyeSight system.

Developed in-house by Subaru engineers, EyeSight is heralded as their biggest invention since symmetrical all-wheel drive. It provides pre-collision warning, pre-collision braking, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control functions.

1.6 turbo boxer is cooler than your old 2.5

Subaru really did throw everything at the Levorg wagon in an effort to attract customers, including a new engine. The 1.6-liter four-cylinder unit belongs to the FB16 family and produces 170 hp, coupled with 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. That's more than 100 hp per liter, which shame the average 2.5-liter mill you get with most Foresters and Outbacks.

The gas mileage in the JC08 local cycle is rated at 17.4 km/liter according to the manufacturer. Subaru says that 80% of buyers go for the 1.6GT trim level and engine so that's why they chose it for a value-packed special edition.
