Until the McLaren Sports Series / P13 entry-level supercar will make its live debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show, the Woking-based manufacturer is trying to milk whatever hype there’s left in the 650S. The Brits employed the McLaren Special Operations division to make the 650S Limited Edition happen.

To be completely frank, the McLaren 650S Limited Edition is like a “Best Of McLaren” cocktail of bits and bobs from days long past. All 50 examples that will ever be made are paying tribute to the Kokusai Kaihatsu Racing McLaren F1 GTR endurance racer, which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans back in 1995.

Inspired by the race-winning F1 GTR, the McLaren 650S Limited Edition is garnished with racing elements like a roof-mounted intake, a bigger rear aerodynamic diffuser made from carbon fiber, as well as a front splitter made from the same material. Although the dark blue exterior isn’t inspiring, the five-spoke wheels and orange calipers are.

Available only in two-door coupe guise, the 650S Limited Edition doesn’t get any mechanical add-ons

Despite the minor visual makeover and the “unique” seats, carbon fiber package, branded floor mats and leather & Alcantara upholstery, the Limited Edition is packing the same 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 tower-of-power, which churns out a massive 650 horsepower and 678 Nm (500 lb-ft), as the standard 650S.

No word on pricing yet, but we presume that the MSO visuals and its scarcity makes it rather expensive.
