The first ever hypercar developed by Jaguar was a bit of a letdown according to what the British brand promised its customers and what it came out in production-ready form. Nevertheless, the so-called XJ220 from 1992 was a true hypercar thanks to its performance and 213 mph (343 km/h) top speed.

Only 275 examples were ever made and neither came to hit it big in a Hollywood, but the XJ220’s descendant will do just that according to a report from Autocar. You might remember that the C-X75 hybrid-electric concept hypercar from 2010 was considered for production, but that plan was unfortunately cancelled back in December 2012.

Despite that setback, the Jaguar C-X75 will be the bad guy’s car in the next James Bond flick

Slated to be screened next year, on November 6th, we know that a Fiat 500 will be driven by 007 in SPECTRE, while its main vehicle will be the Aston Martin DB10, but what about the C-X75?

Well, the previously mentioned automotive publication is adamant that “individuals involved with the project” tipped them off about the baddie’s ride of choice. You may remember that, in concept form, the Jaguar C-X75 boasted with four electric motors and two diesel micro gas turbines to charge up its batteries, but this intricate layout won’t make it on the car featured in SPECTRE.

The anti-hero car will reportedly be reengineered with the supercharged 5-liter V8 tower-of-power employed by the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe. Apparently, the hybrid powertrain was too much (aka too unreliable) to work without missing a beat throughout the filming process. Now kick back and try to imagine the epic Jaguar C-X75 vs Aston Martin DB10 chase scene that's in store for us...
