Goes on sale in October for US market
The appealing Porsche Boxster Spyder is currently on display
at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
The most hardcore Boxster of this generation has arrived and
comes with many components sourced from the even more focused Cayman
GT4. Its heart and soul is a six-cylinder 3.8-liter engine pushing out 375
HP (276 kW) which is enough muscle to grant a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 4.5
seconds and a 180 mph (290 km/h) top speed.
Purists will be glad to hear Porsche is offering the Boxster
Spyder only with a six-speed manual gearbox while the stopping power comes from
high-performance brakes borrowed from the 911 Carrera. It also boasts a 20mm
lowered sports suspension and a bespoke lightweight soft top which is partially
manually operated. If the front and rear end seem familiar, that’s because Porsche
sourced them from the Cayman GT4.
On sale in Europe this July, the Boxster Spyder costs €79,945 in
Germany and will be available in United States in October from $82,100.
