A gorgeous 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS is set to be sold by Silverstone Auctions this coming May with pre-auction estimates suggesting it will fetch between 44,000 and 50,000 pounds.
The Ferrari 308 GTS in question wears the registration OWT 184 and it is the more powerful version with carburettors. As such, its 2.9-litre V8 engine delivers 255 hp resulting in a 0-96 km/h (60 mph) sprint time of 6.5 seconds as well as 255 km/h (159 mph). Interestingly, later 308 GTS models utilised fuel injection and only produced 214hp.
Elsewhere, the car underwent a professional respray in 2013 in the factory colour of Giallo Fly Yellow. The optional 16-inch magnesium alloy wheels have also been installed while black leather trim appoints the interior. Currently the 308 GTS has around 86,000 miles on the clock but in 2006 when that figure stood at 72,000, the engine was rebuilt with new bearings, valve guides, gaskets, cam belts, tensioners, shims and a new water pump.
Since 2003, the car has been owned by one family and before the May auction, the vendor will give the Italian piece of art a service with new timing belts, tensioners and a new alternator belt installed. Additionally, the engine oil and oil filter will be changed.
