Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably know that the compact crossover is one of the fastest growing segments in the auto industry. Now, Infiniti is stepping up its luxury crossover lineup with a revised 2016 QX50 that now features an extended wheelbase.
The NY Auto Show is the Infiniti QX50's official North American appearance-- its official global unveiling took place in China, where Infiniti believes will be one of the biggest markets for its new crossover.
Significant changes to last year's model include a new front fascia with incorporated LED Daytime Running Lights, restylized headlights, a new grille styling, new side mirrors with integrated LED signal lights, revised side sills, a new rear bumper, 19-inch wheels, and more. What remains the same is the VQ37VHR 3.7-liter V6 engine producing 325 hp and 267 lb.-ft. of torque, which is transferred to the road via a 7-speed automatic.
The QX50 now rides on a 3.2 inches longer wheelbase with the overall length increased 4.5 inches (186.8 inches versus previous 182.3 inches). As a result, interior room has increased by 8.3 cubic feet to 115.4 cubic feet versus the 107.1 cubic feet in the previous standard QX50. The new 2016 QX50 also boasts 4.3 inches in extra leg room and 3.9 inches of extra leg room.
