Official: 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition
In case the standard C7-generation Corvette Z06 wasn’t exclusive enough for you, the 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition has just been unveiled. The car takes inspiration from the Corvette C7.R race car and will be limited to a mere 500 units.
The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition will be available in both coupe and convertible configurations and come standard with both the Z07 Performance Package including Brembo carbon ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres as well as the 3LZ trim package. The Z07 Performance Package also includes adjustable front and rear aero components for increased downforce.
Elsewhere, all examples of the Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition will include a special C7.R Edition graphics package as well as yellow brake calipers, black wheels, Corvette Racing centre caps as well as a visible carbon fibre element on the bonnet. Additionally, a bold carbon fibre ground effects package comes standard as do Corvette Racing sill plates and a special numbered C7.R Edition interior plaque showing the build number of each car. Paint wise, Corvette Racing Yellow Tintcoat is available as is gloss black.
Discussing the car, Corvette product and marketing manager Harlan Charles said “Corvette Racing’s legacy and technology were significant influences on the development of the Corvette Z06 and the new C7.R Edition honors the direct link between the racecar and the production model. It also advances Chevrolet’s plan to offer special-edition models that offer a unique, personal ownership experiences, which become important parts of Corvette’s legacy.
“Combined with the 650-horsepower supercharged LT4 engine, true aerodynamic downforce and performance technologies such as Magnetic Ride Control, Performance Traction Management and an electronic limited slip differential, the Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition offers capability matched only by an elite fraternity of the world’s supercars and special-edition exclusivity that is sure to make it an instant collector’s item,” Charles said.
