Nissan looks to be expanding its Nismo performance brand once more with the announcement of a Nissan 370Z Roadster Concept, unveiled at the Chicago Motor Show this week. The Nissan 370Z Nismo Roadster Concept obviously translates the Nissan 370Z Nismo for open top motoring. It isn’t yet clear whether Nissan will see the Nismo Roadster Concept through to production.
At the moment, the Nissan 370Z Nismo Roadster Concept is billed as a One-off design study created to gauge market interest in the Nismo Roadster. It gets a different engine tune, suspension tune, exterior bodywork and interior enhancements.
The Nissan 370Z Nismo Roadster Concept gets a 350-horsepower 3.7-liter V6. It get an exclusive H-configured exhaust system design and muffler tuning, along with optimized ECM calibration, to help create 18 horsepower more than a standard 370Z. Couple this is a 7-speed automatic transmission with Downshift Rev Matching and Nismo tuned suspension; you have a perfect combination.
The Nissan 370Z Nismo Roadster Concept gets a GT-R-inspired front with a deep fascia, Hyper LED Daytime Running Lights, black headlight bezels, Nismo emblems and a signature Nismo red stripe. There are fixed headrest bars and leather-wrapped accents. The rear gets a carbon fibre rear spoiler.
The convertible top itself is a cloth electic-folding roof with fabric inner liner design. It includes a steel tonneau cover and fixed glass wind deflector. The width is emphasised through the wide 19-inch Nismo super-lightweight forged aluminum-alloy wheels.
The interior gets black Recaro leather-appointed seats with red stitching. The interior features custom red stitching with Nismo logos, an Alcantara-appointed leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel and Nismo red tachometer. Technology includes a Nissan Navigation System with 7.0-inch VGA touch-sensitive display, RearView Monitor and Bose Audio System.
A small footnote to the press release reveals that the 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo is sold out. We are also told that 20 percent of total sales are down to the 370Z Nismo and 15 percent to the JUKE Nismo.
