Following last week's teaser,
Land Rover has taken the wraps off the 2016 Range Rover Evoque facelift which
comes with a series of styling and mechanical upgrades.
The design changes are noticeable at the front where the
posh crossover has received a restyled bumper, bigger air intakes, tweaked
grille and full LED adaptive headlights. There's also a new tailgate spoiler,
different graphics for the LED taillights and fresh alloy wheel designs.
Stepping inside the cabin, the 2016 Evoque benefits from new
door casings, seats and an updated infotainment system equipped with an
eight-inch touchscreen display. The All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) system
has been borrowed from the larger Range Rover and helps the Evoque maintain a
pre-established speed when tackling rough terrain.
The most significant change have occurred under the hood
where the facelifted Evoque has gained an all-aluminum Ingenium TD4 turbodiesel
engine which is 20-30 kg (44-66 lbs) lighter than its predecessor and will be offered in
two states of tune: 150 HP (110 kW) and 180 HP (132 kW). Also on offer is the
Si4 turbocharged gasoline engine with 240 HP (177 kW) which helps the Evoque
hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.6 seconds before topping out at 135 mph (217 km/h).
On the safety front, the 2016 Range Rover Evoque has gained
a lane keeping assist system featuring a stereo digital camera to detect
unintended lane changes and when this happens, the car will system will
automatically apply the steering to keep the car in lane. There's also the
autonomous emergency braking system which can diminish the severity of an
impact by automatically applying the brake in case of an imminent collision.
The 2016MY Evoque has also gained an attention assist estimation system which
monitors steering inputs to detect whether the driver is at risk of falling
asleep behind the wheel. When drowsiness is detected, visual warnings and
audible alarms will notify the driver.
The 2016 Range Rover Evoque facelift will premiere next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
