Alongside the entire Range Rover Sport range receiving a number of upgrades for the 2016 model year, the 2016 Range Rover Sport HST has also been revealed. It will officially debut at new week’s New York Auto Show 2015.
The Range Rover Sport HST is the most performance-oriented Range Rover offered with the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine. With that in mind, it delivers a total of 380 hp which represents a 40 hp jump over the next most powerful V6 model.
Range Rover engineers have also focused on improving the car’s handling. To do so, changes have been made to the suspension system to reduce body roll and provide better agility. Beefed up brakes have also been implemented.
Visually speaking, the Range Rover Sport HST includes a new set of 21-inch wheels finished in dark satin grey. Alternatively, buyers can option larger 22-inch wheels. Either way, bright red brake calipers help offset the sophisticated wheels. Elsewhere across the Sport HST is special badging, gloss black accents on the bonnet, fog lamp bezels, grille and roof while body-coloured lower door panels are also included.
Inside, the Range Rover Sport HST is characterised with two-tone seats wrapped in luxurious Oxford leather. Additionally, a number of black elements help set apart the Sport HST’s interior from all other Range Rover models.
Discussing the car, the Range Rover Sport’s vehicle programme director David Mitchell said “The HST extends our Range Rover Sport line-up giving customers even greater choice. Sitting between the existing 340PS Range Rover Sport 3.0-litre V6 supercharged and the 550PS supercharged variant, it delivers enhanced V6 performance to go with Range Rover Sport’s renowned comfort and refinement.”
