Honda Civic 1.5 turbo getting manual for 2017 MY

Honda Civic 1.5 turbo getting manual for 2017 MY

A presentation screenshot is showing the new Honda Civic will get a manual transmission for its turbo version.
CivicX forums obtained information and a presentation screenshot from Honda parts manufacturer that reveal the 1.5 turbo model will receive a 6-speed manual transmission for the 2017 MY. Currently, the Civic 1.5 turbo comes only with an “unique CVT.”
The screenshot also suggests the 6-speed manual, also available on the base LX model, has been planned for the 1.5 turbo engine for 2016 MY, but has since been delayed to 2017 MY for unknown reasons.
According to the information, the turbo variant will get the manual after the 2016 Civic Coupe launches in March 2016 and may coincide with the debut of the 2017 Civic Si model.
The 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder motor is pushing out 174 bhp (129 kW) and 162 lb-ft (219 Nm) of torque. A poster during the Orange County International Auto Show revealed the unit will return 42 mpg US on the highway.
The base unit for the new Civic is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, developing 158 bhp (117 kW) and 138 lb-ft (186 Nm) of torque. It is mated to either a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission and returns "more than 40 mpg" US on the highway.
