Alfa Romeo Giulia US spec revealed with 276 bhp entry-level version

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has staged the premiere of the US-spec Alfa Romeo Giulia in Los Angeles.
We only get to see the range-topping Quadrifoglio version in the attached illustrations, but Alfa says the US model will also be available in a lesser version. It will be powered by a newly developed four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine developing 276 bhp (206 kW). The all-aluminum MultiAir2 motor benefits from twin-scroll turbocharging and will be linked to a standard rear-wheel drive setup or an optional AWD hardware.
As for the crown jewel, the Quadrifoglio will have a larger six-cylinder 2.9-liter pushing out 505 bhp (377 kW) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque sent to the road via a short-shifting six-speed manual. The impressive combo will ensure a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) run in 3.8 seconds and a 191 mph (307 km/h) top speed. Alfa Romeo reiterates in the press release the 7:39 Nürburgring lap time and points out the car has an almost perfect 50:50 weight distribution with a best-in-class 7 lbs (3.2 kg) per horsepower power-to-weight ratio.
The Giulia Q will ride as standard on 19-inch forged alloy wheels shod in 245/35ZR19 (front) and 285/30ZR19 (rear) Pirelli P Zero Corsa high-performance rubbers. At an additional cost, customers will be able to order Brembo carbon ceramic brakes granting a full stop from 60 mph in 102 feet (31 meters). The “Ferrari-inspired” V6 engine benefits from cylinder deactivation technology and will cut fuel consumption in the real world by up to 15%.
Available in both RWD and AWD flavors, the Quadrifoglio will be the first to hit stateside once production will kick off for the US market in the second quarter of next year. Exact pricing details have not been released, but Alfa says the flagship model will start at “around” $70,000 MSRP.
