As the most successful and respected car General Motors currently makes, Corvette Stingray
was the ideal candidate for some of the finest custom jobs at this
year’s SEMA show. Chevy, however, appears to be less enthusiastic than
the fans, as they’ve only come up with a couple of concepts.
First we have the Paul Stanley Stingray
from the front man of rock group KISS, finished in true rock fashion in
candy red with Midnight Glaze Silver paint treatment on the roof, rear
hatch, spoiler, outside mirrors and the front grille. Inside the cabin
the highlights include quilted parchment leather seats, along with
additional parchment leather accents in the Jet Black cabin, plus red
accent stitching all over. Underneath this custom Corvette Stingray is a
standard Z51 Performance Package model.
Next we have the Corvette Z06 concept
parts for Stingray, pretty much a standard Z06 equipped with lots of
extras and performance parts, including a collection of aero, chassis
and suspension concepts components. Some of the more important parts
include stabilizer bars, Bilstein shocks, brake ducts, big radiator, carbon fiber torque tube, and high wing rear spoiler.
The third SEMA-bound corvette Stingray is
a classic one, the Jimmie Johnson 1971 Corvette, designed in
collaboration with the NASCAR champ. It is a thorough resto-mod job with
modern chassis and brakes, and a crate LT1 engine with 460 horsepower
under the bonnet. Johnson Corvette Stingray also gets a custom hood
vent, restyled front fender vents and 18-inch wheels, leather seats, a
suede-wrapped, three-spoke steering wheel, and carbon fiber trims.
