Faster than previous M3
BMW has confirmed the official Nurburgring lap time for the
new M2.
The sporty coupe is lapping the famous circuit for 7:58 minutes,
making it faster 7 seconds than previous-gen M3 and significantly faster than
its predecessor – the 1M Coupe with its 8:12 minutes. The model is also pretty
close to the time of the current BMW M5, which recorded 7:55 minutes at the ‘Ring.
Powered by a 3.0-liter turbo petrol engine, the M2 has 365 bhp (268 kW) and 343 lb-ft (464 Nm) of torque. These figures are enough for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in only 4.2 seconds with the optional seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission. Top speed stands at 250 km/h (155 mph).
