Weighs just 1,125 kg
Audi Forum Neckarsulm recently had on display the TT
Cup racecar which made its track debut this year.
Arguably one of the prettiest race cars out there, the TT Cup
is a recent addition to Audi's Motorsport division, and compared to the
road-going third generation TT it has undergone a series of changes, including
a massive weight loss program that has enabled the model to tip the scales at
just 1,125 kg (2,480 lbs).
It has a TFSI 2.0-liter engine with 310 PS (228 kW) and "over" 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque channeled to the road through a
6-speed S-tronic transmission and also benefits from an electronically variable active
differential. Audi also fitted the TT Cup with matrix LED headlights and
a PS1 safety seat taken from its bigger brother, the R8 LMS Ultra. There’s also
a push-to-pass function which upon activation will extract an additional 30 PS
(22 kW) from the engine to ease overtaking.
The inaugural season of the Audi TT Cup was concluded last
weekend and Jan Kisiel from Poland was crowned champion and received a
special trophy created by Audi's apprentices in Neckarsulm. In addition, he
also received a parts package for the new
R8 LMS worth €150,000.
