Production Lada XRAY officially unveiled
Lada has finally revealed the production version of the XRAY that will go into production on December 15With sales scheduled to kick off in February 2016, the vehicle is the second all-new model for the brand following the Vesta sedan. We’ve already seen it in spy photos and know it is virtually identical to the XRAY concepts from 2013 and 2014. The only notable changes over the studies are the reshaped taillights, smaller wheels and headlights with new internal graphics.
The interior comes nicely equipped with leather steering wheel, USB and AUX ports, electric side mirrors and windows, air conditioning, parking sensors and others.
AvtoVAZ says the machine is based on the B0 platform of Renault-Nissan alliance and has more than 500 unique parts. Power will be provided by three petrol units. The base 1.6 has 106 PS (78 kW), while there’s also a more powerful version with 114 PS (84 kW). The range-topping variant will get a 1.8-liter powerplant, delivering 123 PS (90 kW), mated to either an automatic or manual gearbox.
The XRAY will go through the EuroNCAP test crash program in 2016 and the Russian producer is expecting no less than three stars in the overall rating. Sales of the model in Europe will start a few months later.
