2016 COPO Camaro unveiled at SEMA

Chevrolet has unveiled the 2016 COPO Camaro at SEMA.
Designed for drag racing, the turn-key race car is eligible to compete in both NHRA Stock and Super Stock Eliminator classes.
Given its purpose, the car has been equipped with an adjustable front suspension, adjustable coilovers and a solid rear axle with an aluminum center section featuring a spool-type differential and 40-spline gun-drilled axle shafts.  The car also features a race-spec chassis, special brakes and a fuel cell with an integrated high-pressure fuel pump.  The model also has wheelie bars, a parachute and lightweight Weld wheels with Goodyear racing tires.
A variety of different engines will be available including a supercharged 5.7-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8 and a 7.0-liter V8.
The SEMA show car was developed with the assistance of Funny Car driver Courtney Force and it has a Red Hot exterior with a carbon fiber hood, red grille inserts and special graphics.  The model also has racing seats, five-point safety harnesses and a chrome-moly roll cage.  There's also racing gauges, a competition switch panel and a concept 350 racing engine with a Whipple 2.9-liter supercharger.
Chevrolet will build 69 COPO Camaros for 2016 and the SEMA show car will be auctioned off at a Barrett-Jackson sale next year with the proceeds going to the United Way.
