The Chinese company lifted the veil off their new model, the compact-sized 5 SUV at the Guangzhou Motor Show.
Designed by an international team both from Munich and Shanghai, the new Qoros 5 remains faithful in the company’s design language which also decorates the 3 Hatchback/Sedan and City SUV.
The new 5 SUV is the first Qoros model to feature a multi-link rear suspension with the company not sharing any details on the availability -or not- of an AWD system. We do know that ground clearance is rated at 180mm and that under the bonnet there is a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine.
The engine makes 154hp and 230Nm of torque (169lb ft) and is the same unit found in the Qoros 3. The cabin features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the usual connectivity functions and a BOSE premium audio system, leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof.
Qoros is expected to enter the European market sometime in 2017 and until then, the new 5 SUV will be available only in its home market. Sales in China start in the first quarter of 2016 with prices starting at 150,000 yuan (around $23,400 at current exchange rates).
