2016 Holden Commodore VFII
Most powerful and fastest model ever
Following last week's teaser,
Holden has unveiled the last Australian-built Commodore and it's the fastest
and most powerful ever made.
On the design front, all of the models in the range have
received front and rear styling tweaks, with the exception of the Evoke trim
which has remained unchanged while the LPG variant has been discontinued. The
rest of the models come with updated front and rear bumpers, a new look for the
front grille, clear taillights, fresh 18-inch rims while the Sportwagon gains
new LED taillights.

soldiers on with the six-cylinder 3.0-liter V6
rated at 252 PS (185 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) while the SV6 version
has a six-cylinder 3.6-liter V6 with 286 PS (210 kW) and 350 Nm (258
lb-ft) of
torque, just like the Calais and Calais V models.
Go for the SS version and you pay an extra $1,500 than
before but in return you will find a beefier LS3 V8 6.2-liter engine that
develops 413 PS (304 kW) and 570 Nm (421 lb-ft). It's enough muscle to grant
the vehicle with a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 4.9 seconds. The engine works
as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox, but for an additional $2,200 there’s
also a six-speed automatic which is the sole offering on the Sportswagon
model.
The new engine comes together with a retuned suspension
which according to Holden brings an improvement in handling and comfort. It
should be mentioned all of the V8-powered models also get a mechanical bi-modal
exhaust, optional performance brakes while the SSV now has functional hood
vents, color heads-up display and a new 19-inch alloy wheel design.
Lastly, the range-topping SSV Redline has received standard rear
Brembo brakes along with all the goodies of the SSV plus optional new 20-inch
rims.
