After
numerous teasers and promises, Ford finally took the wraps off the
all-new Shelby GT350 Mustang, revealing a handsome pony car with a
5.2-liter V8 engine and a sophisticated chassis. The new Shelby could
well be the cleverest Mustang ever.
Ford themselves say the new Shelby GT350
Mustang is most balanced, nimble and exhilarating production Mustang
ever. And it owes that to a number of improvement made to the GT model
to create this.
The Shelby benefits from a 5.2 liter V8
engine, naturally-aspirated, capable of developing 500 horsepower,
MagneRide dampers, aggressive brakes and finely tuned aerodynamics. The
400 lb-ft torque of that engine make their way to the rear wheels via a
lightweight six-speed manual transmission and a Ford-tuned Torsen
limited-slip differential.
Visually, Shelby GT350 Mustang is easily
distinguished over standard model thanks to its signature Shelby
stripes, but also wide fenders, chunky
sills, and a new lowered aluminum hood, as well as exclusive wheels.
Interior highlights include a flat-bottom steering wheel, a lot less
shiny chrome bits, upgraded gauges, and sport seats.
If you want a lot of convenience equipment, you need to order the optional Tech Pack which adds leather seats,
dual zone air con, 8-inch display, and so on. An all-new integrated
driver control system allows selection of five unique modes that tailor
ABS, stability control, traction control, steering effort, throttle
mapping, MagneRide tuning and exhaust settings, depending on driver
preference, to achieve maximum performance.
