Earlier today, we talked about a
Mansory-tuned Lamborghini Aventador that has 1,250 hp. You know what
else has 1,250 hp (it’s actually 1,260), but can leave that Lamborghini
trailing in its wake? The Larea GT1 S12.
This is one of those track machines that are barely street legal. Still,
nobody can complain, once one of these checkered flag-trained devils is
street legal, it’s street legal... We met the machine in the tech flesh
on the Essen floor and we have to say it doesn't try to hide its
performance at all.
Just like some of the finest beers in the world, the Larea GT1 is hand
built in Germany and we have to explain the S12 is the latest evolution
in a line of models that starts at 570 hp.
At the heart of the car sits a 7.2-liter V8 that’s blessed with a
supercharger, churning out 1,260 hp and 1,600 Nm (1,180 lb-ft). Yes, the
0.77 kg/hp power to weight ratio is stunning and with that blower you
can be certain the muscle is there just when you want it.
The motor is wrapped in a carbon fiber tub, which in turn is covered
with steel body panels. As for the connection to the road, we have
285/30 R18 tires up front and 335/30 R18 rubber at the rear.
The go-fast numbers
As for the performance, the 0 to 100 km/h (62 km/h) sprint is completed
in 2 seconds flat, while the 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) run is dealt with
in a jaw-dropping 5 seconds.
Of course, this is no drag queen, but a time attack specialist, but no
track performance numbers were offered. You just take one of these to
the ‘Ring, complete a fast lap without getting it wrong and you’ll be
just fine.
If there’s a parallel universe where the Larea GT1 S12 doesn’t satisfy
your track needs, Larea also makes racing versions, which climb all the
way up to 1,400 HP.
