So they built it to allow a racing variant to compete in the FIA GT Championship. In 2004, when it entered production, they made 25 units, with another 25 following the next year. All of them were pre-sold at an impressive EUR 600,000 ($663.108 at the current exchange rate). This tells a lot of how great these sportscars are. But enough with the general view, let’s zoom into this mean machine.
The Maserati’s 625-horsepower engine is mated to a paddle-shifted Cambiocorsa 6-speed transmission. Just put it this way, even though it’s a rear-wheel drive machine, delivering 60 mph (96 km/h) comes in 3.8 seconds, while the top speed is set at 205 mph (329 km/h). The interior takes this story to a whole new level, with a mixture of supple perforated Blue leather, carbon fiber and “Brightex” (a material that approximates the latter’s woven appearance but is soft and compliant).
Again, it’s the only one they finished in Black while all the other 49 units came in White with Blue accents. And if all these aspects have not made an impression, then the fact its odometer shows a mere 1,300 kilometers (807 mi) certainly will. The beautiful Italian breed is going under the hammer this August, at Mecum Auctions’ Monterey sale.
