Official: Bentley Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series
The Bentley Continental GT Speed is the fastest production Bentley car and the Mulliner division of the British-based automaker has revealed a limited edition model for the vehicle, inspired by the Breitling Jets.
The Breitling Jet Team is the world’s largest professional civilian flight team performing in jets and is supported by the Swiss watch manufacturer, Breitling. The France-based team takes part in around 50 aerobatic events every year and will be touring the United States and Canada this summer. The Breitling Jet Team has seven L-39C Albatros Jets that can reach speeds of 700km/h during stunts.
Only seven models of the Bentley Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series will be produced and each of them will be influenced by one of the seven Breitling Jets. The car will be publicly unveiled at the Boeing Seafair Air Show being held in Seattle, United States – where the Breitling Jet Team will be performing. The event starts on Friday, 31 July 2015.
Bentley promises that the limited edition Continental GT Speed reflects the “distinctive look of the Breitling Jets”. The exterior has been painted in Hallmark and Onyx colour-combination, with yellow detailing on the front, rear and sides of the car. This gives Bentley the trademark look of the L-39 Albatros Jets.
The interiors have the same bespoke theme color, the carbon-fibre fascia panel on the dashboard will display an image of the seven jets in Avenger flight formation. In addition, the jet that corresponds to the particular car will be highlighted in Breitling Yellow. Each car will have a unique number that will be visible on the headrests and the tread plate plaques.
The owner of every car will be handed over the key by the pilot of the plane that inspired the vehicle as well as a flight experience in that same jet.
“The Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series demonstrates the level of customisation Mulliner can achieve for customers,” Geoff Dowding, Director of Mulliner, said.
“Creating this very special edition has been an exciting experience for the entire team, taking inspiration from the Breitling Jet Team’s grand tour.”
The Bentley Continental GT Speed is powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine which churns out 626 hp and 820Nm of torque. The car can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds and has a top-speed of 331 km/h. An eight-speed automatic transmission transfers the power to all the wheels of the car. Sales of the Bentley Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series will commence in the end of July.
