50th Anniversary Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe Costs $349,995... Without A Drivetrain

Shelby American has unveiled the hard-top brother of last year’s 50th Anniversary FIA Cobra 427, the gorgeous 50th Anniversary Cobra Daytona Coupe.

Built in a limited run of 50 units, with either aluminum or fiberglass bodies, the Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe celebrates the 50th anniversary of Shelby’s FIA World Championship.
Only six original Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes were built in the 1960s, making it one of the most coveted vehicles in the world. Since each of the six racecars is worth millions of dollars, ownership of one is almost impossible.
But the next best thing to that is Shelby’s recreation, the Daytona Cobra Coupe, which marks the first time Shelby has offered an aluminum continuation Daytona Coupe. Built from original blueprints and measurements, the aluminum Coupes (serial numbers CSX9950–CSX9999) stay faithful to the 1960s, featuring leaf spring suspension, a tube chassis and a wooden rimmed steering wheel, among other things.
Each car will come equipped with a premium black leather interior, special badging, modern disc brakes and a stronger frame. Built to order, each vehicle is delivered as a rolling chassis and can be finished by a customer or an authorized dealer. An aluminum block 289 cubic-inch (4.7-liter) V8 that can include a Coupe’s serial number is also available separately from the Shelby Engine Company.
Now, if you’re a sensitive person, don’t read on. The base aluminum Shelby Daytona Coupe costs $349,995, and that doesn’t include the drivetrain! The fiberglass continuation cars start at $179,995, always without a drivetrain. If you can afford one, you should know that Shelby American is accepting deposits on a first-come, first-served basis.
The fiberglass and aluminum cars will be unveiled at Gordon McCall’s Motorworks Revival on August 12 and will be on display throughout the weekend at the Rolex Motorsports Reunion inside Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca.
An aluminum car will also be displayed at the Goodwood Revival in the UK to celebrate the anniversary of the FIA World Championship where the original Daytona Coupes will be reunited.
