The
original AC Cobra, the one Carroll Shelby created by putting a Ford V8
into a British sports car, is quite possibly the most iconic vintage car
in the world and therefore commands astronomical prices. But you can
still have some of that action in your life thanks to something
wonderful called an AC Cobra replica. I know it doesn’t sound good, but
replica ACs are hugely popular these days and not as cheap as you might
think.
These are still super hot and hotly
coveted sports classics, so they do cost a pretty penny. They don’t have
the flair of the original, but if you are more into driving your
classic cars than just ogling them, an AC Cobra replica is much better
as they often come with modern underpinnings and none of that problems
of a real classic. That’s exactly the case with this one right here,
built by Cartech in Switzerland.
Cartech’s AC Cobra replica is registered
as a 2015 model finished in a lovely shade of blue with black Shelby
stripes and black retro wheels, side grilles, bumpers, roll bars, and
the all-important side exhaust. The car features a full leather interior
and if you peek through its vintage wheels you’ll see it has up to date
 brakes and suspension as well.
The engine powering this beast is a
modern Chevy LS3 6.2 V8 with 440 horsepower which, considering the
vehicle weighs only 1,000 kg, is enough for a serious turn of speed. The
Ac also has a six-speed gearbox, brakes from Corvette Z06 and KW
Competition push-rod suspension.
