The Tumbler could crush it. Literally.
A couple of weeks back it was announced
that a fully restored Batmobile would be put up for auction. But this
wasn’t just any Batmobile. In fact, it was never featured in a TV series
or movie. No, this replica of Batman’s old DC Comics ride was built by a
guy named Forrest Robinson back in 1963.
It took three
years to convert a 1956 Oldsmobile 88 with a 324 Rocket engine into
what’s considered to be the first and oldest Batmobile out there. And
now it’s just been sold for a whopping $137,000.

Remember, Robinson’s labor of love predates the George
Barris Batmobile driven by Adam West in the late ‘60s TV series. That
car sold for an astounding $4.2 million in January 2013. But this was
the first time the ’63 Batmobile was put up for auction. That’s because
it was only discovered in 2008 after being found rusting in a New
Hampshire field. It’s since been completely restored to its original
glory and is a true piece of pop culture and Americana. The identity of
its new owner was not disclosed.
