Sales start in July
Honda has published new details and photos for the production
Civic Type R that was revealed back in March this year.
Described as “the most extreme and high-performing Type R
ever built”, the car will go on sale in Europe from July this year and will be
available in two trim levels. Customers can choose from five different exterior
colors - Championship White, Crystal Black, Polished Metal, Brilliant Sporty
Blue and Milano Red.
As we have already informed you, power is provided by a
2.0-liter turbo petrol unit, providing 310 PS (228 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft)
of torque between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm. The engine features a new turbocharger,
incorporating the company’s Variable Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC)
and Dual-Variable Timing Control (VTC) systems.
The powerplant is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, which
enables the car to sprint for a standstill to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 5.7
seconds before hitting a top speed of 270 km/h (167 mph).
The Civic Type R also benefits from a specifically developed Four-wheel Adaptive Damper System, as well as an Advanced Dual Axis Strut Front Suspension system that “enhances high speed stability, on-the-limit cornering and steering feel”. The sports vehicle has been equipped with a revised rear suspension, a retuned steering system and high performance Brembo brake package with four-piston calipers and 350-mm drilled discs at the front axle.
