A stunning matte silver 2016 Lotus 3-Eleven prototype has been spied testing at the Nurburgring. This particular 3-Eleven was testing during industry pool testing at the legendary German racetrack.
Powering the Lotus 3-Eleven is a tweaked variant of the 3.5-litre supercharged V6 from the already potent Evora 400. In 3-Eleven specification, it has been upgraded to deliver 450 hp at 7000 rpm and 332 lb-ft of torque between 3500 and 6500 rpm. That exceptional engine is then mated to a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels through a Torsen-type limited slip differential.
All up, the 3-Eleven tips the scales at under 900 kg in race spec and therefore delivers a power-to-weight ratio over 500 hp per tonne. As a result, it can rocket to 96 km/h in less than 3 seconds as well as a 280 km/h top speed. The road version continues on to 290 km/h. Elsewhere, a set of new AP Racing four-piston brake calipers have been installed as have lightweight forged aluminium wheels.
