Online debut set for next Tuesday
Official images with the fourth generation Kia Sportage have
hit the web.
Earlier this week we posted several fully revealing spy
shots of the all-new compact crossover from Kia, and now we managed to
obtain access to official images courtesy of TheKoreanCarBlog.
While the shape
of the car has remained pretty much the same, the design - elaborated in
Europe - is actually quite different compared to the outgoing model and
makes the car
look bolder and more dynamic. We don't have official images of the interior so far, but in
the aforementioned spy shots we saw a blend between the Sorento and Optima to
create what Kia is describing their "most refined" cabin ever.
The underpinnings are already known since the new Sportage
will use the same platform, engines and gearboxes as the latest Hyundai Tucson.
As a consequence, there will be a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 135 PS in
naturally aspirated guise and 176 PS when turbocharged. Diesel units will
include a 1.7-liter CRDi with 115 PS and a larger 2.0-liter rated at 136 PS and
184 PS. These will work with six-speed manual, six-speed automatic and
seven-speed dual clutch gearboxes sending power to the front wheels as standard
or to an AWD setup available at an additional cost.
We will get to see the new Kia Sportage in the metal at the
Frankfurt Motor Show in mid-September, but an online reveal is programmed for
August 25.
