Even though it’s a neither-here-nor-there sort of car made by a largely unknown Korean car maker, we quite like the SsangYong Tivoli.
It’s a cheap and funky crossover and from what we’re hearing it
delivers good value and quality as well. Now there is a new version with
 an extended body.
The new SsangYong Tivoli XLV with its
elongated body is apparently the car maker’s answer to those who liked
the compact size of the crossover but wanted a bit more space in the
back for carrying stuff. So while it has the same platform and 2,600mm
wheelbase as the Tivoli, the XLV comes with a lengthened body from
behind the C pillar.
The extra length is 238mm which
translates into a more than decent 720 cubic litres of cargo space in
the back. And that makes SsangYong Tivoli XLV one of the most practical
cars in its class. When it launches this summer, you’ll be able to order
the XLV with a Euro 6 compliant, 62 mpg 1.6 litre diesel engine and
chose between a 6-speed manual and automatic and two- or
four-wheel-drive.
“Following rapid growth in the compact
SUV market, SsangYong responded in 2015 by launching Tivoli, its first
small SUV, and already the company’s most successful new car.  Some 64,000 cars were manufactured and sold around the world last year,” said Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK.
