If
you are in the market these days for a sporty and elegant coupe Audi has
just made your life a lot more complicating. They have revealed the new
2017 Audi A5 Coupe and S5 Coupe, and on the surface at least this pair
is so good it’s probably worth waiting a few months for them to be
launched.
Set to be released towards the end of
this year, the new Audi A5 Coupe, and it’s extra-sporty variant the S5,
comes with revised styling-  though as is always the case with Audis
it’s hard to say what’s been revised apart from those weird
headlights – improved aero, reduced weight, a host of new technology
features and a range of powerful TDI and TFSI engines.
A total of five engines are available for
the 2017 Audi A5 Coupe, including two TFSI and three TDI units, with
power outputs ranging from 190PS to 286PS. But you don’t want an of
that. What you want is the 345PS 3.0 TFSI V6 in the S5 Coupe, especially
as it comes with an eight-speed tiptronic transmission and standard
quattro all-wheel drive. Optionally, you can fit a ear-axle sport
differential for even more dynamic driving.
Another highlight of the new A5 and S5 Coupe is  optional
Audi virtual cockpit, a 12.3-inch TFT display with a resolution of
1,440 x 540 pixels which do away with the traditional instruments and
dials for a more high-tech experience. Trouble is though, most good
things about this car – the top-notch infotainment and sound system,
Audi connect safety & service package, and… – are optional extras.
The standard kit is just not very attractive.
