Following up on the Avenir Concept.
Buick has unleashed a 2+2 coupe concept known as the Avista ahead
of the Detroit auto show, and it liberally borrows styling cues from
last year’s Avenir concept.
The Avista, revealed in a stunning blue coat of paint on stage at a
Sunday night event prior to the show’s media days, features a twin-turbo
V-6 engine with 400 hp and a body to match.The Avista should sound familiar, considering it packs a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine with 400 hp, just like the new Cadillac CT6. Paired with rear-wheel drive, the Avista incorporates start-stop technology, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and magnetic ride control. Buick is billing the new model as a true driver’s car, and from the looks of it, we think the brand is serious. The concept coupe resides on the Alpha platform and possesses the same 110.7-inch wheelbase as the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
On the exterior, the Avista comes with Buick’s new grille that uses a horizontal bar running through the brand’s crest. The car was inspired by the four-door Avenir concept, which shares a similar grille design and sloped roof with the new two-door. The Avista follows up nicely on last year’s concept with 20-inch aluminum wheels, a shapely hood, touch pad door handles, and exposed carbon fiber and aluminum accents inside the cabin. A subtle rear lip finishes off the look.
Buick says the Avista concept previews the brand’s potential direction for interior trims, touchscreens, and active noise cancellation technologies on an upcoming vehicle. We don’t know if Buick plans on bringing a model like this to market in the U.S., but it could attract a younger audience to the lineup.
