Pricing for 2021 models has also been announced.
At the end of last year, the new Porsche Panamera Turbo S set a record at the Nurburgring. However, that was soon broken by the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S. Perhaps that's why Porsche attempted a new record in America, using the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta near Porsche Cars North America's home town of Georgia to show its full potential. Porsche enlisted professional race car driver Leh Keen, who set the previous Nurburgring time, to drive Porsche's enhanced and facelifted fastback sedan on the 2.54-mile race track. The time he set is an impressive 1 minute and 31.51 seconds, claiming the record from the 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
As well as improved dynamics, the new turn of track performance also comes from the extra power added to Porsche's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. The addition of upgraded connecting rods, crankshaft, timing chain, and new fuel injectors now sends 620 hp and 604 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via an eight-speed PDK. That's an upgrade of 70 hp and 37 lb-ft of torque over the Panamera Turbo and makes the Turbo S the fastest of the purely gas-powered Panamera lineup. A lineup that now consists of 21 models in total.
If you're planning on taking a stab at beating Keen's benchmark lap at Road Atlanta, then you'll need to drop $179,050 on Turbo S, then tick a few option boxes to add the Michelin Pilot Sport cup 2 ND0 ultra-high performance tires specially developed for the Panamera and tuned at the Nurburgring.
Porsche now has one of the deepest ranges of trim and performance levels for a single model. Opening that account is the base model Panamera, which now sports a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine rather than a single turbocharged 3.0-liter lump making 325 hp and costing $88,550. A little more upmarket from there is the Panamera 4S at $106,350. The Panamera GTS, also powered by a V8 now generates 473 hp and 457 lb-ft and starts at $130,650.
At the top of the price ladder is the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Executive, starting at an ungodly $199,450. The entry-level hybrid model is still the Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and retains its price point of $105,150.
