And so does the Corvette Z06.
Thanks to a member of the Camaro6.com
forum, a leaked order guide for the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has been
released online and it’s full of awesome information. How awesome? Well,
how does a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of
torque sound to you? Yeah, we thought so. The new ZL1 debuted earlier this year at the New York Auto Show but this is the first time we’re able to get a look at its now former secrets. Actually, Chevrolet originally gave an estimated horsepower figure of 640 ponies.
With
the extra 10 hp, the new Camaro ZL1 has the exact same output as the
Corvette Z06. Makes sense given they both have the same engine. The new
ZL1 can be had with either a six-speed manual or 10-speed dual-clutch
transmission. Although Chevy hasn’t released official pricing yet, it’s
fair to assume the ZL1 will cost less than the Z06. So, the best Camaro
and the best Corvette have the same supercharged V8. Isn’t that internal
competition? This is a matchup we’d love to see happen. Oh, something
else: the new ZL1 features a Teen Driver mode, a "configurable feature
that lets you activate customizable vehicle settings…to encourage safe
driving behavior. An in-vehicle report gives you information on your
teen’s driving habits."
