Following its official debut in New York and a visit to London,
we catch up with the 2017 Audi R8 Spyder at its natural habitat, the
Audi Forum Neckarsulm in Germany. The car on display at the car maker’s
center of excellence is the same bright orange as before, which is a bit
of a downer.
We would have loved to see this beast in
some other color other than orange, not only because we think 2017 Audi
R8 Spyder V10 would look better in a darker shade, but also because we
are keen to see how that peculiar rear apron
looks when the black bits are blended in with the paint job. As it is,
they stand out like a sore thumb, or an ugly mole on the car’s butt!
Apart from that, there really isn’t much
to complain about with the 2017 Audi R8 Spyder. This is an open-top, 540
horsepower super car with Audi’s legendary build quality and its
excellent quattro all-wheel-drive system, plus a fantastic new interior
with a 3D display for instruments and a cool new steering wheel and a
ton of advanced technology features.
Performance-wise, the Spyder V10 sprints
from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and passed 200 km/h in 11.8 seconds.
Top speed is an exciting 318 km/h (197.6 mph).
