One of the most special vehicles ever to wear the Mercedes star has emerged through the classifieds.
The W124 500E is the child of a one-off collaboration between Mercedes and Porsche with the end result to be one of the stealthiest cars of the nineties. The specific example we have here is one of the only 1528 models imported to the USA between 1992 and 1994.
The seller says that the car is in excellent mechanical condition, with an extensive maintenance history to back his claims. Indeed, the car looks very clean despite the 159,000 miles on the clock, but these cars and these powertrains are known for their durability if properly taken care of.
The only mods found are an iPod connector retrofitted to the original head unit by Becker and a hardwire kit for a radar detector which is not included with the vehicle.
The seller, who appears to be a serious car collector, asks for $23,500 over here which doesn’t sound a lot, given the rarity and the specialness of the 500E. Combine the 326hp 5.0-litre V8 with the tank-like built quality and you have a winner.
